The Side Hustle Program
Start Small. Dream Big. Get Funded.
Do you have a business idea you’ve been waiting to launch on the side? Whether it’s a creative passion, a small service, or a product you believe in, The Side Hustle Program is here to help you take that first step.
This program is designed for aspiring entrepreneurs in the Community Futures Ventures region who are ready to explore self-employment in a flexible, supportive way.
What You’ll Learn
Through a series of six self-guided, interactive modules (hosted on Google Forms), you’ll build the foundation of your business step-by-step:
- The Set-Up – Business structure, registration, and legal basics
- Your Ideal Customer – Target audience and value proposition
- Brand Fun – Colors, fonts, taglines, and logo design
- Cash & Flow – Startup costs, pricing, and cash flow planning
- Point of Sale – Banking, payment systems, and digital presence
- Be Strategic – Partnerships, scaling, and business storytelling
Each module is easy to complete and designed with beginners in mind—no business background required!
Side Hustle Supports
Participants who complete all six modules and provide the required documentation will be eligible to receive:
$500 in non-repayable funding to help launch their business.
Eligible expenses include:
- Marketing and social media promotions
- Website or e-commerce setup
- Equipment, tools, or inventory
- Business registration and setup costs
- Professional services or training
To receive funding, participants must:
- Complete the entire Side Hustle Program
- Submit a photo or scanned copy of business-related receipts
- Complete a short survey
- Confirm agreement to these requirements in the application form
Who Can Apply?
The program is open to residents of the Ventures region who:
- Have a side business idea and are ready to explore it
- Can complete the online modules and required follow-up
- Are passionate about learning and growing as entrepreneurs
We especially encourage applications from:
- Youth (18+)
- Indigenous entrepreneurs
- Individuals with disabilities
- Newcomers to Canada
- Anyone ready to hustle!
There are limited spaces available, and no formal deadline—applications will remain open until program capacity is reached. If demand exceeds available funds, a waitlist may be created.
