BUSINESS LOANS
Community Futures Sunrise has flexible lending criteria and each loan application will be evaluated on its own merit. Businesses must be physically located within our region and the majority of employment created must be within our region.
Microloans of up to $25,000 to start your business or give it a boost.
Community Futures (CF) Sunrise’s Biz Start and Biz Boost Microloans provide a low interest, flexible, business financing solution for entrepreneurs in the southeast region of Saskatchewan. CF Sunrise understands the difficulties that entrepreneurs face due to recent impacts on the economy. As a result, we are providing further support to small business owners in the form of quick, simple, online access to financing for working capital or expansion needs.
Biz Start Microloan (new or in operation for less than one year) and Biz Boost Microloan (existing business) have the following terms:
- Maximum loan of $25,000
- Interest rate of prime + 2%
- No principal payments for six months
- No application fee
- Repayment over three years, with no penalty for early payout
- A one-time administration fee of 2%, which can be added to the loan amount
Microloan Eligibility Requirements
- Funds will be used to start, buy, maintain or expand a business in the CF Sunrise region
- Funds may not be used to prepay or refinance existing indebtedness
- The business must demonstrate viability
- A complete loan application has been submitted

We work with individual communities as they develop and achieve their community economic development goals in the key areas of: business retention and expansion, business and investment attraction, community promotion and marketing, and regional tourism development.

YouthBiz is an exciting and fun business competition for grade 6 - 12 students in the CF Sunrise region (southeast Saskatchewan). The contest promotes entrepreneurship, financial literacy and it encourages the connection between young people and the business community. Students come up with a business idea, write about it, plan the finances to back it up and have fun developing simple marketing materials too!
Since YouthBiz began in 2007, over 3,050 students from southeast Saskatchewan have competed for more than $32,000 in prize money!
NEW in 2022 . . . YouthBiz focused on digital skill building. We all know that business has changed over the last three years, and having an online presence is a 'must' for small business. That's why 2022 YouthBiz will include website building as an entry requirement (don't worry, we're here to help along the way). Big Thanks to Go Digital Sask, who are sponsoring a prize package for one lucky 2022 YouthBiz winner: a one-year e-commerce subscription and the help of the Go Digital Sask team to get their business online!
