Since the evacuation was implemented in Fort McMurray the Saskatchewan Community Futures offices have put their heads together to come up with a way to help. Since our mandate is to help strengthen communities it seemed logical for us to help Fort Mac begin the arduous process of rebuilding its community.
To help maximize our effort we reached out to our clients in rural Saskatchewan and they responded. Six Saskatchewan Community Futures offices held a Lunch and Learn webinar over lunch on Friday May 27th. Partnering with the Women’s Entrepreneurs office in Saskatoon facilitator Taunya Woods Richardson from Nail the Numbers led the participants through a workshop for entrepreneurs to help them find ways to raise capital for their various projects.
Through the generosity of our clients we were able to raise $1,000 in that one hour period! This will be donated to the Canadian Red Cross where it will be matched by both the Red Cross and the Federal Government bringing the total raised to $3,000!!
Thank you to our Community Futures clients for coming through. Also, very big thank you to Taunya Woods Richardson of Nail the Numbers for offering her free workshop and to Women’s Entrepreneurs for the use of their facilities and equipment to help reach the whole province.
