As a manager one of your biggest responsibilities is to your employees. It’s important to know what your rights and responsibilities are to your employees under the Saskatchewan Employment Act. A number of Rural Municipalities (RM) in the southeast have been asking these same questions! Community Futures (CF) Sunrise and the Ministry of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety are hosting an information session on February 25, 2016 to take a closer look at employment standards in Saskatchewan as they apply to RMs.
“We’ll be bringing in Glen Brooman who is an Educational Consultant with the Ministry of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety. He has over 30 years of experience with the Saskatchewan Employment Act so is a wealth of knowledge. Glen will lead the session and he promises that there will be ample time to ask specific workplace questions as they specifically apply to Rural Municipalities,” comments Verna O’Neill, General
Manager of CF Sunrise.
“Topics such as modified work arrangements, hours of work, overtime, employment leave, holidays and layoffs will all be covered during the workshop. I’d encourage RM Administrators and other representatives to attend and find out more about these topics,” says Verna O’Neill,
General Manager of CF Sunrise. “The session facilitator, Glen Brooman, was in Humboldt delivering this session a couple of months ago and those that attended said it was really worthwhile.”
The Saskatchewan Employment Standards Information Session for RMs will take place on Thursday, February 25, 2016 from 10am to 2:30pm at the Canalta Meeting Room in Weyburn. Fee is $20 per person, and lunch is included. Registration is required, so please contact CF Sunrise to attend: 306.842.8803 or sunrise.cfdc@sasktel.net.
