Take 12 kids with a lot of creativity and an eagerness to learn about business, combine it with some hard work and you'll get a successful Backyard Entrepreneur (BE) in Business camp! Hosted by Community Futures (CF) Sunrise on August 21st and 22nd, this summer camp aims to boost business skills and ignite the entrepreneurial spirit in young people.

"The kids learned a lot of important concepts about business. From budgeting, pricing and marketing to dealing with customers, these young people really did get a small taste of what it's like to own a business," comments Verna O'Neill of CF Sunrise.

During the final day of the camp the biz kids, aged seven to 11 years old, were 'open for business' with kiosks set up in the Community Room at the Weyburn Credit Union. Customers shopped at Food Time, Dessert Land, Crazy Candy, and Epic Crafts. Everything from lunch items and games to crafts and candy art were available for sale.  Approximately 60 customers visited the youth-run businesses and all in attendance raved about the enthusiasm demonstrated by the young business owners.

Special thanks the Weyburn Credit Union for hosting this event in their Community Room.
