One of the winners of the 2014 Community Beautification Program was also one of the 2013 winners as well. The Village of Val Marie has been doing an ongoing project and both year's Community Futures Southwest picked them as winners. Last year we gave $700.00 towards the mural project; this year we gave $1500.00 towards the completion of the square project.
The town square project that Val Marie has been working on is close to being completed. They started with a vacant area and landscaped it, got it ready to be used. They added flower pots and trees first year. Then from there, carried on with adding benches, tables and a pergola or gazeebo. The project is not quite complete yet as a fire pit and a few other things will be added before being called done.
Last year, a mural was added to the wall of the building facing the square. The mural was painted by a local artist. It's absolutely beautiful. The town locals have done all of the volunteer work and has definately paid off. The town square is wonderful!! We look forward to the day it's completed and we will be showcasing that with photos when the time comes.
