The Village of Tompkins were double winners this year. For the 2014 Community Beautification Program, Tompkins had two entries.
The first winner for the village was the Economic Development Group of Tompkins. Their project was to clean up the downtown area. Painting benches and landscaping the areas was some of the duties done by the group.
The second winner for the village was the Village office. Their project was to make over the playground. The things that did for it, was cleaning and cutting back some of the overgrown trees. Landscaping the area, placing new pea gravel and updating the equipment. The end results of both projects is a village the locals and surrounding area can be proud of. The playground is beautiful!!
Community Futures Southwest gave $1000.00 to the Economic Development Group of Tompkins; and gave $1000.00 to the Village of Tompkins to complete their projects. Great job Tompkins!
