CF Volunteer Award Goes to Don McDonald

Written by

Community Futures Saskatchewan is pleased to announce that Don McDonald is the winner of the award for Excellence in Community Futures Volunteerism.

The Community Futures Award recognizes outstanding contribution of an individual in furthering the success of the Community Futures program.

Don has been a member of the Board of Directors of Community Futures South Central since its inception in 1994.  Don was one of the instrumental players in organizing and founding the CF organization in the region.  During that time Don also played key roles in municipal politics and local economic development.  He was elected Reeve of the RM of Dufferin in 1991 and served until his retirement in 2013.

The Community Futures Program strengthens rural economies by providing small business loans and assisting entrepreneurs through counselling and training.  Each Community Futures organization delivers a variety of services ranging from technical and advisory services to businesses, and loans to small and medium-sized businesses.

Community Futures offices also assist community and volunteer organizations with their projects through planning and helping them access government programs and partnerships.  Community Futures is supported by Western Economic Diversification Canada.

Community Futures Saskatchewan is an association representing the 13 Community Futures organizations established throughout rural and northern Saskatchewan.
