Just like many Saskatchewan communities, the Town of Bruno is constantly facing numerous challenges to stay ahead of infrastructure and funding needs. It’s a long process, says administrator Colette Radcliffe, and making sure budgets address these needs while balancing the funds available can be stressful.
Sagehill Community Futures is there for them, she says, as the business support organization located in Bruno has had a positive impact in their community. Together with the staff at Sagehill, the Town of Bruno worked to create their Human Resource manual, says Radcliffe, but, with government regulations always changing, Sagehill is also always there to help the town staff address this ever-changing world of community administration, regulations, and government funding opportunities.
Sagehill is a resource all businesses in the region can utilize, says Radcliffe, so her advice to new businesses in Bruno and beyond is to never be afraid to ask for help from an office like Sagehill. Utilize those resources, she says, and be prepared to adapt to changes.
Having a good working relationship with businesses, both Sagehill and the businesses they represent, is the secret to their town’s success, says Radcliffe. Being transparent, open, and honest with residents and making them feel welcome at the town’s table is also a big part of that success and Radcliffe is excited to see what the future holds for the Town of Bruno.
