Programs to get you started

At Community Futures our mandate is to help entrepreneurs succeed in business. We offer a variety of programs and training to support you on your path to reaching your goals..

Self-Employment for the Unemployed

Many Community Futures offices deliver this program for unemployed people interested in starting their own business. Participants must be eligible for Employment Insurance (EI) - or currently receiving EI, or have recently received EI - or be current recipients of Income Support.

The program allows participants to retain their EI or Income Support while developing a business plan and starting their business. Contact your local Community Futures office for more information.

Entrepreneurs with Disabilities

Under the Entrepreneurs with Disabilities Program (EDP) a person with a disability is defined as anyone who's impairment restricts his or her ability for regular employment. Community Futures can provide assistance to entrepreneurs with disabilities, by helping them start their business.

Youth Business Competitions

Our goal is to provide students in our service areas educational information on entrepreneurship and to inform youth of the assistance, programs and services Community Futures provides.

Community Economic Development

Community Futures works in partnership with communities throughout the province to promote and expand community economic development. We assist communities in organizing and planning for a self-directed future.
