Community Project Competition Winners
The "Challenge 4 Communities" is a Community Project Competition sponsored by Community Futures Newsask. Four submissions were received by November 1st and posted on the website at www.newsaskcfdc.ca. Public online voting commenced and continued until November 29th. The project winners for a total of $6,500 in prize money are:
$ 3,000 - Youth Peacekeepers Program (James Smith Health Clinic & Bernard Constant Community School) with 2,590 votes
$ 2,000 - K.E.C. Students Need Tablets! (Nibwakawigamig Kinistin Education Centre) with 1,697
$ 1,000 - Active Play Equipment (Tisdale Tiny Tornadoes Daycare)
$ 500 - Sleep Room & Loft Project (Little Explorers Daycare)
There were a few objectives involved in this challenge – the first being to promote community projects and improvements within the region. Along the way, each group added more information and utilized the social media to promote their projects. Facebook and YouTube are two of the most familiar methods of connecting and communicating on the web and the groups added a link each week providing an opportunity to drum up votes. The script for a radio ad completed the challenges. The winner will receive free 30 second ads from CJVR to help promote their project.
Newsask is committed to increasing economic development in the north east region of Saskatchewan. Each time a community sees improvement or activities, it's good for the community and it's good for business.
