Get Your Business Seen in 2017: Overcoming Your Visibility Issues

  • You dread networking events and avoid them like the plague. You’d rather jump off a tall building than hand out business cards and connect with new people who could potentially propel your business forward.
  • You dabble on social media, occasionally sharing an inspiring business quote or your latest special, but you don’t want to obnoxiously intrude on people’s feeds. Rather than engaging with your audience in a consistently genuine and helpful way, you tell yourself that it’s better to only post once in awhile so that you’re not getting in people’s faces.
  • You know that video is rapidly becoming the most impactful marketing strategy out there, but you can’t bear the thought of getting in front of a camera. So instead of connecting with your ideal clients in this highly effective and cost-efficient way, you put that youtube channel at the very bottom of your to-do list.
  • You see other successful business owners giving speeches at events and hosting workshops, but you’re terrified of public speaking so you reserve your inspiring story and brilliant ideas for the clients that are irregularly trickling through your door.
  • You’ve noticed that local publications and organizations routinely showcase business owners in print and online, but you think that they’ll seek you out once you’ve made a name for yourself.

If you’ve been experiencing one or more of these situations in your business, chances are pretty likely that you may be contending with some visibility issues that are keeping you small and hidden from the people who could benefit from your products or services the most!

When we fail to reach our goals and create the success we desire, it’s very often that it’s not actually a “business” issue, but rather a mindset one. The root causes of our visibility problems typically have to do with fear, limiting beliefs, or other similar blocks. Therefore, understanding what these barriers are and where they trip you up is essential to transforming and transcending them in order to grow and sustain your business success.

A visibility issue can be identified as anything that serves to hinder, disrupt, or negatively impact the degree to which you and/or your business are seen by the public. In most cases, they are likely hurting or inhibiting your marketing and sales efforts, subsequently affecting your bottom line.

Usually these blocks stem from a lack business clarity, low self confidence, or limited leadership skills. Here are five helpful strategies and shifts that will assist you in modifying your mindset for business success:

  1. Stop focusing on what you sell and instead direct your attention to how you can serve. Aim exclusively to be genuinely helpful and useful to your prospective customers and clients. Focus on the core problem your business solves and consistently offer up content and ideas, along with tons of enthusiasm, about how to solve that problem.
  2. Ask yourself: “How would I behave in my business if I were the best in the world at what I do?” Do THAT.
  3. Get crystal clear on what the mission of your company is. When you invest the time to thoroughly define and refine your business vision and values, you’ll dramatically enhance your confidence.
  4. Build your skill set and seek out support. Join toastmasters, sign up for a sales course, or engage the services of a business or marketing coach.
  5. Set clear and concrete business goals that you want to achieve. When you have a roadmap for where you want to go, you’re far more emboldened to take the steps that you need to. Because as business and personal development guru Tony Robbins says, “Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible."
