Just Watch Me! video contest - Prairie Edition
Saskatoon, SASKATCHEWAN – In celebration of International Day of Persons with Disabilities,
Community Futures is excited to announce the contest ambassador for the 2014 Just Watch Me!
video contest is Saskatchewan News anchor Julie Mintenko!
Julie has been reporting for Global in Saskatoon since 2007, and is very involved in her
community. A proud Riders fan, Mintenko has been twice awarded the Adrienne Clarkson
Diversity Award for her outstanding storytelling on accessibility and other issues faced by
persons with disabilities in Saskatchewan.
The Just Watch Me! video contest is open to people with self-identified disabilities or ongoing
health conditions operating businesses in rural Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The contest is
being run jointly by the Saskatchewan and Manitoba Community Futures Entrepreneurs with
Disabilities Program (EDP)
Owning a business can be a great fit for people with disabilities or health conditions. You can
set your own hours, create a personalized work environment, and most importantly, gain a
sense of control over your destiny.
"If you are an entrepreneur with a disability or a health condition and have a business success
story to share, you could win up to $1000 and great prizes," explains Susan Bater, EDP
Coordinator for rural Manitoba and spokesperson for this year's Prairie Edition contest. "We
want to hear your business success story! All you have to do is create a two or three minute
video about your business and upload it to the contest website by 3pm, January 24, 2014."
The winning video in the Just Watch Me! contest will be chosen by a panel of judges and a
public voting process. This year the judging panel will include celebrity judge Chris
Thorsteinson, a Community Futures client and lead singer of the award winning band Doc
Walker. The contest has prize categories for both seasoned entrepreneurs as well as start-ups,
and winners receive cash as well as fantastic prizes!
The winners will be announced on February 26, 2014. Check the official website
www.justwatchmecontest.ca for details and prize information .
Doc Walker's new hit single is this year's contest theme 'Put it Into Drive,' so grab a camera
and tell us what drives you and your business!

How the contest works
If someone is interested in submitting a video to the contest, they can get all of the information
they need from the contest website: www.justwatchmecontest.ca.
Basically this is how the process works:
1. The entrepreneur should review the contest's "Eligibility requirements" and "Terms and
conditions" to make sure they qualify.
2. The entrepreneur should also take a minute to review the "Contest theme" and the "How to
Enter" sections to make sure it matches with the story they want to tell in their video. A note to
Entrepreneurs: Remember! We're not judging you on the quality of your video production.
We're more interested in your story and the passion that has made you an entrepreneur.
3. If the potential participant has any questions, they might wish to review the "FAQs" and then
proceed to the "How to enter" and "Help me make my video" pages.
4. Once they have finished making their video, they are ready to upload it to YouTube.
Uploading a video to YouTube is an easy process, and is outlined in detail on the contest's
"Help me upload" page.
5. A panel of judges including Doc Walker's Chris Thorsteinson, will announce the top four
videos in the "Seasoned entrepreneur" category on February 5, 2014. At that point, the public is
invited to vote for their favourite and voting takes place until February 19, 2014. The video that
gets the most votes wins $1,000 cash and prizes, and the other three finalists also receive
prizes. The judges panel will directly pick the winners for the "Start-up entrepreneurs" category.
Prizes for this category will be awarded to the top winner from Manitoba and the top winner
from Saskatchewan.
